The reason Dr. Sabacinski developed the BEECure™ dressings was to prevent the undesirable and dangerous side effects and adverse drug interactions that are well known for the predominantly synthetic pharmaceuticals that have been widely administered over the past several decades. With the resistance problems resulting from the overuse  of current day antibiotics (the AMR crisis), many research groups have gone back to study, in greater detail, the medicinal properties, and mechanisms of action of many natural and organic compounds, such as honey.

During his years of clinical practice, Dr. Sabacinski has successfully treated acute and chronic wounds with various topical broad-spectrum organic antibiotic solutions. In addition to his surgical treatment of wounds, he preferred a natural or organic product which would not have adverse side effects in patients, especially those with poor circulation and diabetes. Early in his career, he experimented with povidone-iodine and sugar for wound healing. More recently, Dr. Sabacinski has researched and developed bioactive wound dressings using buckwheat honey fortified with antibacterial compounds.

As a result of his clinical outcomes, Dr. Sabacinski co-invented SanMelix’s bioactive wound dressings, which involve novel medicinal activities associated with buckwheat honey combined with other protective additives. The Company’s BEECure™ dressings prevent life threating bacteria from penetrating the dressing. Based on Dr. Sabacinski’s limited initial case studies (performed on an emergency off-protocol basis) results demonstrated enhanced and hastened healing of the chronic wounds.
